Chapter 2
BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS
Sergei and Mikhail Villianov were led into Albert Witherspoon's office by his secretary. It had been many years since Sergei had visited the lawyer, since he had arranged for the adoption of Anya's daughter. It had been so dangerous that he and Marya had used aliases for all three of them, Serge and Marie Villiers and Marie's Anglo-French niece, Anna Daniels. Now, he was asking for the second part of the original deal, the recovery.
After Sergei introduced Mikhail and the lawyer still using the aliases, he turned his full attention to the elder man. "Mr. Witherspoon, almost thirty years ago you arranged the very complicated adoption of a girl born to a Russian immigrant. You do remember the procedure that the adoption entailed?"
Albert Witherspoon was no fool. He remembered the case very clearly, one he didn't like from the get-to. He knew something was up with it years ago, and now he was sure. "Of course, Anna Daniels was her name. You came in with her and another woman, Mr. Villiers."
"Yes, as you have guessed, that was an alias. Ms. Daniels, whose name was really Anastasia Darov, was the maid to my wife, Marya Villianova, and I, Count Sergei Borisovich Villianov." Sergei motioned to Mikhail. "This is our son, Mikhail Sergeivich." Sergei turned back to the attorney. "The child she gave birth to was my great-niece, the daughter of my nephew, the now-late Stavros Cassadine. We were all concerned the child would be at risk from her grandmother, my sister Helena, or her father." Sergei sighed. "They would not look favorably upon a girl, illegitimate or not. So, Anya chose to give the child up to protect it."
"My aunt has died recently and my cousin Stavros has been dead for many years. He did eventually father a son, who is now a loving, caring father himself, nothing like his grandmother or Stavros. We feel that he would welcome his sister into the family and understand why things were done this way. What my father and I are asking is that you initiate the chain that will uncover my cousin's present identity, so that we may bring her home," Mikhail concluded, having been filled in on the story the day before back in Geneva. He was shocked at first, but knew that his parents had done the right thing. He was determined to find Stavros' daughter.
Witherspoon looked at the two men sitting across from him. He had many thoughts about the true circumstances of the case, but after the explanations given, and his own limited knowledge of the Cassadine family, he agreed. The papers had passed through a dozen lawyers spread out over the country and he would have to redo research in order to recreate that chain.
Sergei and Mikhail left the office an hour later, providing as much information as they had to hopefully speed up the process.
"Do you think we will find her, Father? It's been so long, anything could have happened to her." It was something that Mikhail had thought of, but didn't want to bring up.
The thought had occurred to Sergei as well, but he wouldn't let himself finish those thoughts. "She is out there. Have faith in that, my son." It was all he could say to Mikhail. They got into their car and returned to the hotel. Sergei turned the conversation to happier thoughts. "Have you decided on how you will ask for Angela's hand?"
Mikhail smiled at his father. "Those plans are already in the works back in Port Charles. I have my minions assisting me in it. In one day, Angela Davis will agree to be my wife."
PORT CHARLES, NY
Sam McCall stared at her watch. It was the longest five minutes of her life, even longer than the last time she had found herself in this situation. She didn't know what she hoped the outcome would be. On one hand, she still felt that she barely knew the guy enough. Yet they had both been through so much and it was something that they knew they wanted. Besides, his family was wonderful and for the first time made her feel like she was part of a family. It was then that the buzzer sounded. Tepidly, she picked up the stick and looked at it.
There was a knock at the bathroom door and Lucky Spencer looked at her. He was just as nervous as she was. He looked in her eyes and saw the fainted traces of...was that joy? It was confirmed a minute later when she smiled, wrapping her arms around him. They were both shouting so loud Luke and Laura ran upstairs.
Lucky saw his parents and turned to Sam. "Do you want to tell them or should I?" he asked.
Sam smiled, genuinely happy. He looked over at Luke. "You've always said you had a hard time as a father. But, supposedly, being a grandfather is much easier."
Laura was smiling as she embraced Sam. Lucky patted his dad on the back. Luke was just stunned. "Wait, I'm gonna be a grandfather? How did that happen?" Despite his hesitation he was really happy, though concerned for his son and Sam. But he would voice those concerns to Laura later. Right now, the Spencers were one happy family.

Melanie Davis sat at her computer going over some Cassadine Industries files. Some were projects, others were bank records. One file caught her attention. When she tried to access it she was denied. She tried some other tricks but they failed as well. She picked up her phone and called Spinelli.
"The Jackal, at your service!" came the enthusiastic answer.
"Spinelli, can you come here? I've found an old file that I can't access. I'm sure that it can be hacked into by the master of the internet," she said, buttering him up.
Spinelli laughed. "I shall be right over, Oh Royal One!" With that, the call ended.
SPOON ISLAND
Mickey Villianov approached the grand entrance to Wyndemere. Before he could knock, Alfred opened the door. "Prince Mikhail and Princess Natasha are waiting for you in the Conservatory," he directed Mickey.
Mickey nodded and entered to find Ned Ashton and Jasper Jacks there as well. He knew this was to throw him off but he remained calm and turned his attention to Mikkos.
"My Prince, it is a honor to be standing before you this morning." He smiled at Alexis and returned his attention to the elderly man. "It has been nearly three years now that I met your granddaughter, Angela. Since that first time, I fell in love with her..."
Mikkos cut him off. "You have my blessing for her hand," he said shortly.
Mickey didn't know what to say. He had this speech planned out for weeks, including the delivery. He just stood there as Mikkos embraced him and kissed him on both cheeks. Alexis also kissed him, but whispered in his ear, "Just take it at face value. Don't say anything else, he's being gracious."
Jax and Ned also approached him and shook his hand. Though both had appeared to be menacing when he entered the room, they now gave him smiles.
"Good luck, mate. Angela's a special girl," Jax said.
"Just remember, she knows people who can hurt you if you hurt her," Ned told him.
Mickey let out a breath, then beamed at Angela's family. "Thank you, thank you so much. I promise you that I will never hurt her," he said.
"Now, how do you plan on proposing?" Mikkos asked.
Mickey smiled. "That will be a surprise. I still have to put the finishing touches on it. If you will excuse me?" He looked at Mikkos and Alexis, who both nodded at him. He then left, with the four adults wondering.
