Out of the darkness Part 20
Note: Ok Sorry this has taken so long.I thought I had posted this her earlier and I hadn't. Thanks for all the wonderful feedback I have received. There is a part the fic that is not meant to slam to Rexis. It does allow my Alexis to Be more like the woman I loved (More Cassadine) in this fic than she has been. This board runs differntly than others and I now realize I should have replied to everyone who was Kind enough to comment. I am sorry I didn't do that. The next part will be Hard R or NC-17 and will be found where it is supposed to be posted. Okay enough jabbering. Here goes nothing.
Elizabeth and Steven were sitting in front of a computer in the PCPD's CSI crime lab's office. "Okay Steven, could you please explain how searching through old files is going to prove that my Stefan is the real Stefan and innocent of killing Summer?" Elizabeth asked. She shut her eyes, rubbed them and then kept them shut for a few minutes. She realized she was tired. Tired of being helpless, of having everyone act like she had lost her mind, and just plan tired since the jet lag of her flight from Italy was setting in.
"I had an idea. Remember how corrupt this office was under the old DA Baldwin?" he asked as he continued to type.
Elizabeth stared at Steven for a minute, she couldn't figure out what he was up to. "Yes, I remember how bad it was. Why?" she finally asked.
"Well since 50% of what that man did around here was controlled by whoever was paying him, I had an idea. The Stefan Cassadine you say was a fake was arrested while Baldwin was the DA," Steven explained while still working on the computer.
"Yes, he was the DA."
"Was the real Stefan ever arrested before?"
"Yes. I know he was in 2001, I think when Chloe Morgan was murdered. Stefan was accused but in the end his brother had killed Chloe."
Steven pressed a few more keys. "Thanks for the info, I found it. So we have these fingerprints from 2001, someone's from 2003, and the ones that were taken today. Let's see what happens when I compare all three sets. This computer program will compare the three sets quickly and the results will be admissible in a court of law if you need them," he explained.
"Thank you so much," Elizabeth said as she leaned over and hugged Steven.
He hugged her back before settling into his chair. The computer was processing the fingerprints and they would have a few minute's wait. He turned and faced Elizabeth. "Don't thank me yet. Let's see what the computer has to say first," he explained.
Elizabeth smiled at her brother and then laughed. "I know what the answer will be already, Steven. It's everyone else who won't believe me," she explained.
He stopped looking at the computer screen and took a long hard look at his baby sister. There was sadness in her eyes he hated to see and she just seemed so tired. "Elizabeth, I understand you married this man to save you and Cam, so I can understand why you are so compelled to help him now. What happens next, Elizabeth? Now that you're home and everyone is safe?" he asked.
Before Elizabeth could answer the computer beeped and the printer printed out three pages. Steven reached over and took the pages out of the tray. After looking them over he smiled as he read the results.
She couldn't wait any longer and tried to snatch the papers out of his hand but he blocked her and laughed. "Please! Steven, what does it say?" she begged.
He smiled at Elizabeth. "Well, what I have here is the proof you are looking for. The finger prints from 2001 do not match the Stefan Cassadine who was arrested in 2003 but they do match the man sitting in Interrogation Room 1," he explained.
"So we have proof that that other man was a fake. That means that Mac has to realize Stefan..." she said with tears in her eyes.
Steven could see the tears and pulled Elizabeth close for another hug. "That's right, sweetie, you have your proof," he said. He pulled away and handed her a copy of the printout. "This is a copy for you and Stefan. I will put a copy in his file here and I will take this third copy to Mac. There is no reason to hold Stefan any longer."
Elizabeth took the paper and hugged it to her chest. "Thank you so much, Steven. This means so much to me," she said with tears in her eyes.
Steven saw how happy Elizabeth was. "Go ahead and tell him the good news. I'll go fill Mac in," he said as he hugged Elizabeth. Then he walked out the door.
"What do you mean when you say there will be no annulment?" Nikolas asked, the confusion showing on his face. It suddenly turned into a look of concern. "Oh my God! Uncle, you haven't had sex with Elizabeth, have you?" he asked.
Nikolas's comment angered Stefan. "MY relationship with my wife is none of your concern, Nikolas. I will not discuss this with you," Stefan stated quickly and sternly as he glared at Nikolas.
Nikolas sat and stared at his uncle for a minute, then he decided to back off. "I am sorry my comment was so rude. I am very concerned about Elizabeth. She's my best friend and in the last few years she has been put through a lot. I was part of some of that and now I just want to make sure she is safe and happy," Nikolas tried to explain.
Stefan smiled. "Nikolas, you may not believe this at the moment but Elizabeth's safety and happiness have become important to me. I have no intention of adding to her accumulated pain," he explained.
They sat in the interrogation room together quietly for a few minutes while Nikolas let his uncle's comments sink in. It was hard to get used to the idea that his best friend, who was 2 years younger than he was, had become his aunt. Finally the silence had gotten too hard so Nikolas asked, "Have you contacted Alexis yet? She will be very happy to know you're alive."
"Actually, I haven't had time to call anyone. I seem to be tied up at the moment." He held up his hand that was still cuffed to the table. "Could you contact her and let her know?" he asked.
"I'm sorry, I would love to be able to tell Alexis the great news but she won't accept my calls," Nikolas explained as he got up and started pacing.
"Would you care to explain to me what could have happened that would cause such bad blood between you and Alexis?" Stefan asked. He was surprised at this revelation.
Nikolas stopped pacing and stood in front of Stefan. "Alexis blames Elizabeth and I for the death of her husband," he explained.
That answer confused Stefan. He had read the local papers and knew that Ric Lansing had died when shot by a sniper. "How did you and Elizabeth cause his death?" he asked.
Nikolas finally sat down in his chair. "Ric was injured in a mob shooting. He was hit with several bullets when he jumped in front of his brother. While he was in the hospital, in intensive care, he kept asking for Elizabeth. Alexis refused to allow her to be called. He kept begging Emily to call her. Finally I called Elizabeth and brought her to the hospital," he explained.
"How did that cause his death?" Stefan asked.
"It really didn't but Alexis refuses to see it that way. Steven Webber had explained that his injuries were fatal. What upset Alexis is Elizabeth was with Ric when he died. He had told Elizabeth that he was sorry for all the horrible things he had done to her. He thanked her for being his only friend. He also told her that no matter where he ended up a piece of him would love her forever. Alexis walked in and heard him say 'love you forever' just before he flatlined," Nik explained.
"Did Alexis think her husband was in love with Elizabeth?" Stefan asked.
Nikolas shook his head. "I don't know. I don't think she realized the extent of Ric's feelings for Elizabeth but he did love Alexis. Ric had so much guilt about how he mistreated Elizabeth while they were married it haunted him," he explained.
"That must have caused Alexis considerable pain," Stefan said quietly. He understood how much pain loving someone who couldn't give you their whole heart could bring.
Before they could talk anymore the door opened and Elizabeth walked in holding a piece of paper. She had a huge smile on her face as she walked around the table, ignoring Nikolas. She leaned in to hug Stefan and laid the paper on the table in front of him.
She smiled over at Nikolas and then looked at Stefan. "Here is the proof we needed. This paper proves you are the real Stefan Cassadine and you didn't kill Summer. Steven checked the fingerprints. He has gone to Mac so we can get you released," she explained before she leaned in to kiss Stefan.
Elizabeth and Stefan walked into the suite at the Metro Court a little after midnight. After leaving the PCPD, Elizabeth made Stefan go to the hospital to be checked out. He was lucky to have ended up with a lot of bruising and two cracked ribs.
Samuel had been sitting in the living room area waiting for them to get home. When they walked in he simply stood up and said, "Good night," before he walked into the bedroom he shared with Susan.
"Good night, Samuel," Elizabeth said with a smile. As she turned to look at Stefan she realized that he was staring at her and it made her blush. "Are you hungry?" she asked as she started to walk to their bedroom.
"Not for food," he answered. His voice was deeper, sexier and full of promise.
His voice sounded so sexy it actually stopped Elizabeth in her tracks. She felt her face warming as she blushed. Turning around to face him she took a quick breath. Even battered and bruised he was a sexy man. The look in his eyes made her mouth go dry and her pulse speed up. This was the first time that Stefan had done anything remotely like flirting and she liked it. She finally decided that two could play that game. Walking closer she finally stopped and put her hands on his chest. She looked up and licked her lips before asking, "Well, Stefan, if you're not hungry for food, what are you hungry for?"
It was Stefan's turn to be surprised. He had seen Elizabeth's beauty and her strength. But when he saw her tongue run along her lips it took every ounce of will power he had not to grab Elizabeth and drag her to the bed. He reached out and ran his tongue across her bottom lip and smiled. He leaned forward and kissed Elizabeth's neck by her ear and then whispered, "What I really want..." he stopped speaking and kissed her neck again, "...is a..." he kissed her neck once more and tugged on her ear with his teeth, "...shower," he said as he pulled back and grinned.
The feeling of Stefan's lips on her throat made her ache for him; she was melting in his arms. She wasn't ready for his comment. When she heard what he really wanted she was confused but then she saw his smile and started to laugh.
"Why don't I get my things and take a shower in Cam's room while you take one in ours. Then when you're done I will rewrap your ribs," she said as she walked quickly into the bedroom. She pulled some clothes out of the dresser and walked past him before he had time to argue.
Stefan walked out of the bathroom and back into the bedroom. He was dressed in a pair of black silk boxers and a white terry cloth robe from the hotel. He was busy trying to towel dry his hair one-handed. He was surprised to see Elizabeth waiting for him. She was dressed in a dark blue silk nightgown with thin straps. Her hair was still damp and pulled up on her head with a plastic clip. She was laying out some medical supplies on the nightstand.
"You certainly wasted no time," Stefan said with a smile.
"Well I didn't want you to have to wait. I know you're in a lot of pain," she explained as she walked across the room.
"I have been hurt worse," he commented. He stopped talking and took a deep breath when she reached out and untied his robe.
She smiled. "Why don't you sit on the bed and I will get your rib wrapped so you can get some sleep," she said in a soothing tone.
Stefan laughed when he realized that Elizabeth had just used the same tone she used when she had to deal with a hurt Cameron. "Yes mother," he said as he walked over and sat on the side of the bed.
She laughed as she walked over and stood in front of Stefan. "I could kiss your boo-boos and make you feel better," she said teasing.
Stefan looked up he reached forward and pulled Elizabeth closer. "I think I would like that," he said as he ran his hand across the bare skin of her back.
Elizabeth leaned forward. "Close your eyes," she said. After he closed them she leaned forward and kissed his black eye gently, then his cheekbone and his mouth before moving down lower on his body.
It was all Stefan could do after she kissed the corner of his mouth not lose control and pull her into his arms. She kissed him gently along his neck and collarbone. Her breath was hot on his skin. When she reached his chest he had had enough. He reached out and pulled her up and fastened his lips on hers. He forced hers apart with his thrusting tongue, kissing her hard and deep.
