Out of the Darkness part 18
Elizabeth walked into the PCPD and straight to the front desk. "I want to see Stefan Cassadine, he was brought in a little while ago by Lucky Spencer," she demanded.
"I'm sorry, Ms. Webber, that's not possible. Mac and Lucky are in with him now. I will let Mac know you are here," Officer Murphy explained before he walked away.
Reaching into her pocket Elizabeth pulled out the cell phone she got from Susan. "Hi Justus, it's Elizabeth. No, no, I'm not in trouble but I really need your help...Well, my husband has been arrested and he hasn't done anything. I will explain when you get here. Thank you, Justus," she said. As she finished her phone call Mac and Lucky walked out of the interrogation room.
Mac spoke before Elizabeth got the chance to say anything. "I am sorry, Elizabeth, to keep you waiting but I have a phone call I have to take. I promise I will be right back," he said before turning and walking down the hall.
Lucky walked with Mac part way down the hallway before turning back to Elizabeth. He opened his mouth to speak but, before he could, Elizabeth was across the room and in his face.
"If you EVER touch my son again, so help me God! Lucky do you realize you hurt him? Steven had to take Cameron to the emergency room because you have hurt his arm," she yelled at him. She was so angry she was shaking.
"Elizabeth, I never meant to hurt Cam. I was trying to protect Cam from a monster," he explained, confused. He tried to reach out for Elizabeth.
"No, don't touch me," she said as she stepped back and put her hand up before she continued. "Lucky, you're mistaken. Stefan is not a monster and he is no threat to Cam. He would have never hurt my son but you did. You yanked him by his arm away from Stefan. He's just a baby, Lucky. How could you?"
"Elizabeth, you know as well as I do Cam should not be around Stefan," Lucky explained. He was getting tired of how pigheaded Elizabeth was being.
Elizabeth threw her hands in the air. "Damn it, Lucky! That is not your choice to make, it's mine and mine alone. You're not his father. He is my son. He means nothing to you. You made that perfectly clear when you married Emily to help her with her baby and I had to explain to Cam you didn't want to be his daddy like you promised."
Lucky reached out again. "Elizabeth, you know that's not true! I never wanted to hurt you or Cam. I care about Cam and I..." Lucky started to explain, but was interrupted.
"OH God, save it Lucky. Cam wanted to go to his Poppa, Lucky. His father, and you stopped him. You had no right," Elizabeth explained before she sat down on a bench with her head in her hands. She was so tired of dealing with Lucky. Her headache was back and all she wanted was to get Stefan and go home. She missed his quiet but strong presence in her life.
Lucky finally had enough of her silliness. He grabbed Elizabeth by both arms and pulled her up to look him in the face. "My God, Elizabeth. I didn't walk away from you forever. You would see me. Do you realize that you just called Stefan Cassadine Cam's father? Sweetie, Zander was Cam's father, not Stefan. What did he do to you?" he demanded.
Elizabeth looked up at him, glaring at him. "You chose Emily, Lucky, that was the end of us. AS for Stefan HE married me to help me, Lucky. To get Cam back when he was yanked out of my arms. He has been caring and has protected Cam and me. He has also adopted Cameron so legally he is his father. And guess what, Lucky, he's a good one," she explained. She was so angry she was shaking and Lucky's grip was hurting her arms. "Let go of me now!" she demanded as she stomped on his foot, forcing him to turn her loose.
Nik had walked up just as Lucky had pulled Elizabeth to her feet. Before he could react he heard Elizabeth's announcement that she and Stefan were married. "Liz, what the hell is going on? That really was my uncle and you married him?" he asked. He was shocked at the information.
Elizabeth hugged Nik. "Oh my God, Nik, I am sorry. We will explain everything. I was trying to do that when all hell broke loose. Please give me a minute," she said before she turned back to Lucky. "If Cam is seriously hurt I will speak to Mac about pressing charges, Lucky," she told him before she turned back to Nik.
"Elizabeth, have you called Alexis yet? It seems the man who claims to be my uncle will need a lawyer?" Nik asked.
"Nik, he is your uncle and I called Justus. I have not spoken to Alexis since Ric died," Elizabeth explained. Before she could continue Mac came back.
Mac walked back into the room and over to Elizabeth. "Okay, Elizabeth I'm sorry for that. Lucky said you would be coming in to sign a statement. I'm so glad to hear that you and your son are alright," he said as he reached over to the desk and picked up a file.
Elizabeth turned and glared at Lucky before asking, "Mac, what statement does Lucky plan for me to sign?"
Mac looked at Elizabeth, puzzled at the question. "Lucky explained that you and your son had been kidnapped by Helena and Stefan Cassadine, who is not dead but sitting in Interrogation Room 1," Mac explained.
"Mac, I'm sorry, that's not exactly what happened. Unfortunately Lucky won't stop jumping to conclusions and listen to me. I am not here to sign a statement. I am here to help Stefan." Before she could finish explaining her cell phone rang. She looked at the read out. "Excuse me, it's about Cam. Hello? Okay, okay...Oh that's great...No, Ms. Emily Spencer is not allowed to take Cam. Susan, would you and Samuel please take Cam back to the suite? Oh and Susan, no access to anyone but my brother Steven and my grandmother Audrey Hardy. Yes, you can ask for ID. Thanks." When she finished the call she turned to Mac. "Sorry."
"Okay Elizabeth, I think you'd better start explaining to me what's going on," Mac demanded.
"I want to check on Stefan first," Elizabeth explained.
"Elizabeth, we can't allow a witness to be compromised. You need to give me a real good reason why you should be allowed to see Stefan Cassadine. If that is Stefan," Mac explained.
"Simply because Stefan Cassadine is my husband," Elizabeth explained as she held her hand up, showing her wedding ring.
Officer Murphy walked into the interrogation room followed by Elizabeth. "Mac said you can have 5 minutes," he said as he walked back out and shut the door behind him.
Stefan was sitting in a chair handcuffed to the table. His lip was split and he was starting to show bruises. He had been glaring when officer Murphy had walked through the room but when he saw Elizabeth his face softened.
Elizabeth rushed across the room. She noticed that his lip was still bleeding. She smiled and then leaned forward to give him a hug. He made a pained sound low in his throat and flinched but then hugged her back. "Oh God, Stefan, are you okay?" she asked, the concern written all over her face.
"Of course I am, Elizabeth," he said as he took hold of her hand. He smiled but it never reached his eyes.
"Please don't lie to me, Stefan," Elizabeth said. She reached out and pulled his sweater up. You could see that his ribs on one side were already black and blue. She looked up with unshed tears in her eyes. "I'm sorry," she whispered.
"Elizabeth, this is a small thing to endure if it enables me to get my life back," he explained. "Now enough about my condition, how is Cameron? Did Spencer hurt him? Because if he did he will pay."
"It's okay, Cam is fine, simply bruised. Susan and Samuel took him to the hospital and Steven checked him out. They have taken him back to the suite," Elizabeth explained with a smile. "If you will be okay for a few minutes, I will be right back."
Stefan squeezed her hand and then let it go. "I am certain you will find me here when you return," he said.
Elizabeth walked back out into the outer room. Lucky Mac and Nik were all waiting. "Mac, Stefan needs medical attention," she said as she walked up. "And why isn't Luke being arrested for assaulting Stefan?"
Mac waved for her to follow him to his office along with Lucky and Nik. Once inside he offered her a chair. "Why don't you explain everything that has happened and I will determine what's going to happen next?" Mac asked.
